Richmond v Bedford Saturday 2nd September KO 5pm  - afternoon tea and Prosecco
This Saturday 2nd September the men FIRST XV play their first Championship game of the season at home to Bedford and please note the later KO time of 5pm.
This is due to the fact that London Scottish have also been drawn at home against Yorkshire Carnegie and as it is their turn to take precedence they will KO first at 2pm. So a logistical challenge which ourselves, the RAA and London Scottish will of course manage impeccably!
I would mention that any Richmond member wishing to attend the Scottish game first can get in for £10 if they show their 2017/18 membership card although that will not gain access to the grandstand. And it will obviously be necessary to exit the ground at the end of that match and re-enter/pay for our Richmond match.
Similarly any London Scottish member who produces a 2017/18 London Scottish membership card can get in to our game for £10.
We will be using the Sports Bar for pre match drinks and hospitality and there will be additional outside bar and food outlets - and given the timings, and for something slightly different, we have decided that a robust afternoon tea and Prosecco will be served from around 3.30pm in the Sports Bar as previously advised. There are still places available but I need to know by return please if you wish to book in – cost £20/head to include a match programme but not match entrance
We are very pleased to announce that this week’s Match Ball Sponsor is Bentley Holmes, the latest Club Partner to join our family. Bentley Holmes are mortgage and protection advisers, founded by long-time member and current Richmond Heavy, Grant Holmes. We look forward to welcoming Grant and all his guests here this Saturday.

Sunday 3rd September

Shop opening hours this weekend
I am delighted to report that the shop is fully stocked and will re-open for business on Saturday - and due to the double header will be open longer than usual from 12.30pm until 5pm. So plenty of time to come and browse – and indeed if you wish to get ahead of the game and miss the usual mini and youth first Sunday back scrum, then why not come along on Saturday to replace that out grown kit when things may be a little quieter.
On Sunday the shop will be open from 9am until 1pm

Southwark Tigers need your outgrown boots
And on the subject of out grown kit a reminder that we are delighted to be continuing our association with Southwark Tigers for another season, a club which is run by an inspirational team of volunteers and provides rugby for kids growing up in some of the most deprived areas of the capital.
They are always in need of boots/trainers for their kids who are unable to afford to buy their own so please do remember that they will be delighted to provide a good home for any such out grown footwear.
Just bring them along on Sunday or any other Sunday going forward and drop them off with me in the shop.

Membership cards 2017/18
Membership Cards for those that paid by direct debit on 1st July and 1st August were sent out last week. Cards for those who have paid subsequently will be produced and sent out next week.
Apologies for the delay and if you have paid your 2017/18 membership and are coming to Saturday’s match then please see me in the shop and I will be happy to sort out your discounted match entrance.

Richmond v Ealing Saturday 9th September KO 3pm
Normal service will be resumed next Saturday 9th September when the FIRST XV take on old opponents Ealing again at home but KO at the normal time of 3pm with lunch at 1pm.
This will be the usual 3 courses plus coffee although it has been necessary to make a small increase in the cost and the new price is £30/head which will continue to include a match programme but not match entrance.
Please let me know if you wish to book a place.

Richmond Roses
Many congratulations to our England players, Alex Matthews and Kay Wilson who played so brilliantly in last Saturday’s Women’s Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand. Whilst the result was not what we had wished for our girls played out of their skins and Richmond is extremely proud of both and we look forward to welcoming them back hopefully in the not too distant future
