Richmond Name Squad To Face Canterbury
Richmond have made six changes to their 20-man squad to travel to Canterbury tomorrow (KO 3pm).
Hooker Callum Torpey has been rewarded for his form for the Vikings, replacing the experienced Ross Grimstone who has been rested, while Jimmy Litchfield returns to the starting line-up in place of Ken Dowding who played for the Army Rugby Union during the week.
At lock, Byron Hodge will look to continue his strong start to the season, alongside Chris Allman who makes his return to the First XV, replacing the injured Max Crawford. In the back-row there’s a welcome return for 25-year-old Tom Pashley who will link up with the experienced pair of Jake Parker and Jesse Liston.
In the backs, Dan Kelly switches from wing to inside centre in the absence of both Ronnie Mclean and Giles Bromley-Martin.
While on the right wing there’s a significant moment for Louis Lynagh who will make his Richmond First XV debut. The son of Wallaby legend Michael Lynagh, Louis played his mini and youth rugby for Richmond and is now on dual registration from Harlequins. The 18-year-old has also represented England U16s, U17s and U18s.
On the replacements bench, experienced prop Jeremy Cunnew will look to make his first appearance of the season, while Charlie Gibbings, Ryan Nixon, Toby Dabell and Lewis Dennett will all be in contention to make another strong impact.
Director of Rugby Steve Hill, said: “We were really pleased with the bonus point performance against a tough Old Elthamians side and have worked hard this week to continue improving all areas of our game. Canterbury will be another difficult challenge, they play extremely hard for each other and even though they haven’t won a match this season, they have pushed a number of teams very close. We know we will need to be at our very best to walk away with the win.”
