You may be aware that since the Coronavirus outbreak our Richmond Rugby Community Department have been supporting our local community with various initiatives, in particular supplying free cooked meals to families in need, both during the summer school holidays and recently over the half-term holiday.

With the new lockdown restrictions in place we are very aware that this is going to be another challenging time for us all, especially for those families in need.

Therefore, we would like to extend our offer of support to anyone who requires assistance during the current lockdown. If you or your family are having to self-isolate and therefore your children cannot attend school, and as a result will miss out on a free school meal, we would like to offer our support by delivering food to you whilst you’re in isolation. We will collect the meals from your catering team at your school and deliver to your doorstep.

We are also here to support anyone in our local community who needs help collecting your grocery order, picking up medicine or even taking your dog for a walk. Please let us know, we are here to help.

In addition, as we are unable to deliver normal sports activity at the club, we are setting up free virtual fitness sessions, delivered by our community coaches via our Richmond Rugby Instagram channel (@RichmondRugby – click here to follow).

These LIVE workouts will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm-5pm and every Saturday morning from 10am-11am. Everyone is invited to join in, they are completely free.

Post-Lockdown Support

Once lockdown restrictions have been lifted we are opening our clubhouse and training pitches to any secondary school children who require a safe space after school, from 4pm-6pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We will offer sport provision, areas where students can do homework and we will even have a gaming area with a PlayStation and Xbox set up, as well as table tennis. If this interests you, please contact Dom via the contact details above and we will send out further information and a booking link shortly. Our ‘Richmond Youth Safe Space’ is proudly supported by teenage mental health charity – stem4, who will provide important information and resources.

Finally, we will be offering free fitness sessions for secondary school children, every Tuesday and Thursday at the club post-lockdown. The sessions will be take place from 4:30pm-5:30pm at the Richmond Athletic Ground and can be booked in advance by clicking here.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Stay safe and well,

Richmond Rugby
