Second Half Fightback Too Much For Richmond

A blistering start from Richmond had the Premier 15s champions reeling, as a pushover try got Richmond on the board early before Alice Soper burst through a gap to score from 22m and make it 12-0 to the hosts, after Abi Chamberlain added the extras.

While Richmond huffed and puffed, Saracens threatened to score one back for the remainder of the half, camping out on Richmond’s line time and time again. Huge defence at both lineouts and scrums kept the champions out for a while before Poppy Cleall finally crashed over on the stroke of half-time. If Saracens were in any doubt about the commitment their opponents would show, it was eradicated – especially when Nina Vistisen’s conversion attempt was charged down.

The second half, though, saw things turn in the opponent’s favour, and after two yellow cards for Richmond, Saracens crossed three times to turn the game on its head, the third a fine long-range try from inside their own 22 as Georgie Lingham finished off from distance.

Two late tries in the closing minutes to add gloss to the scoreline, but after a tricky first half, it was job done for the Premier 15s champions, and four wins from four sees them top of the table.
