Richmond Look To Bounce Back Against Gloucester-Hartpury

Back to back defeats might have stalled Richmond’s momentum somewhat, but four wins in six still have the side confident at the moment, and with a long gap in the season ahead, Richmond are keen to sign off with a victory when Gloucester-Hartpury come to visit on Sunday.

A 34-15 defeat to the same opponents in November was the trigger for a run of victories that followed, and Richmond will be hoping to take their recent losses out on the West Country side this time around. With just two places separating the sides, it’s a chance to make a mark before the two month period without a first team game.

The bad news for Richmond is the injury situation, with both frontline wingers Rachel Laqeretabua and Emelie Hellgren, and captain Vicki Jackson, all sidelined. Anna Caplice and Alicia McComish, meanwhile, are on international duty, all of which leaves the backline light in numbers.

Despite the missing personnel, head coach Jonathan Griffin still has a strong side to put out for the penultimate home game of the season. Laura Kapo, Sian Hobday and Grace Moore come back into a strong looking pack, with Libby Povey and Claire Phelps again part of a strong back row setup.

In the backs, Emily A Stone and Tess Braunerova come onto the wings, with the rest of the line looking the same, the impressive duo of Jade Wong and new Danish signing Julie Giessing continuing in the centres.

Fiona McIntosh and Courtney Treco return to the bench, with Richmond eager to put in another full 90 minute performance.
