Many members will be saddened to hear that Richard Humphrey (Vice President) died in his sleep last Monday 29th July. He had been suffering from heart disease for some time.
He adored Richmond and was a determined and hard-working member of the club’s Executive Committee during the 1990’s. He will be particularly remembered for his fund raising activities during the early part of Richmond’s programme of recovery following Administration. He co-ordinated the raising of funds from Club members and donations from outside the Club and his actions achieved the sum needed to allow time to raise the further substantial and vital finance necessary to finally secure the club’s future. His contribution was fundamental to our eventual recovery and current financial stability and Richmond owes him an immense debt of gratitude.
In later years he hardly missed a match standing in front of the grandstand on his favourite spot.
Our deepest sympathy goes to his family.
