Richmond Name Squad To Face Hull Ionians
Richmond have named a strong 20-man squad to travel north on Saturday to face Hull Ionians in their fourth match of the 2019/20 National League 1 season (Kick-off 3pm).
Undefeated after three matches, with wins over Darlington MP, Chinnor and Blackheath, Steve Hill’s men will be bolstered by the return of Rob Kirby who is in line to receive his 150th First XV cap.
The prolific goal-kicker, who will wear his usual number 15 shirt, returns after missing the Blackheath victory and will achieve a remarkable milestone in his seventh season with the club.
Elsewhere, Ken Dowding makes his starting debut for the club at prop, after recently representing the UK Armed Forces at the International Defence Rugby Competition in Japan.
Other changes include a First XV debut for centre Giles Bromley-Martin who replaces the rested Ronnie Mclean, while former CS Stags back Tom Hodgson earns a spot on the bench and could make his Richmond debut.
Director of Rugby Steve Hill, said: “Hull are a very difficult side to play at home and will definitely challenge us in a number of areas. They have a very strong forward pack and their half-backs are quick and like to run with the ball. We know we will have to be more clinical in all aspects of our game, but I am very confident in the squad that we can get the job done.”
