Richmond Name Squad To Face Bishop’s Stortford

Richmond have made six changes to their 20-man squad ahead of tomorrow’s away fixture against Bishop’s Stortford (KO 3pm).

Undefeated after their first five matches, Richmond sit four points clear at the top of National League 1, and travel to Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday full of confidence following an impressive 37-22 victory over Rams last weekend.

The starting 15 features two changes with Jesse Liston replacing the injured Tom Pashley at blindside flanker, while Toby Dabell wears the number nine shirt in the absence of the unavailable Jamie Gibbs.

On the replacements bench, hooker Callum Torpey, lock Chris Allman and back Tom Hodgson are all rewarded with a return to the First XV, while scrum-half George De Cothi is in line to make his debut if required. The 24-year-old, who has represented England 7s, joined Richmond in preseason, following stints with Worcester Warriors, Loughborough Students, Hartpury and most recently Ampthill.

The fixture also features two significant player milestones with back-row pair Jesse Liston and Jake Parker set to make their 50th First XV appearances.

Director of Rugby Steve Hill, said: “We know this is going to be another really difficult test. Bishop’s Stortford know how to keep themselves in matches, they’ve picked up four losing bonus points in five fixtures, and will no doubt aim for another really tight contest. We will need to be clinical in all areas of our game. I am extremely pleased for Jesse Liston and Jake Parker, it’s a fantastic achievement to reach 50 caps in a relatively short period of time, they have been pivotal to our success over the last few years, and I’m sure they will raise their game once again on Saturday.”
