Richmond Name Squad To Face Rosslyn Park

Richmond have named a strong 20-man squad for tomorrow’s blockbuster local derby against Rosslyn Park at the Athletic Ground (KO 3pm).

The top of the table clash is set to mark another significant chapter in the long rivalry between the two clubs, with both sides determined to claim another important victory, in what has been an intriguing and highly competitive National League 1 season so far.

Richmond who hold a seven point lead at the top of the table, will welcome experienced trio Ross Grimstone, Max Crawford and Toby Saysell back into their forward pack, replacing the excellent Callum Torpey, Chris Allman and Tom Pashley, who will all look to make an immediate impact from the bench.

In the backs, Lewis Dennett has been named to start at fly-half, with Tom Hodgson moving to inside centre to form a formidable partnership with Cam Mitchell. On the wings, Louis Lynagh will make his first home appearance for the First XV, following an excellent debut last week. While Dan Kelly will resume his role in the number 14 shirt, after a brief stint at inside centre last Saturday.

On the bench, the experienced Ken Dowding is recalled to the squad following his commitments for the Army Rugby Union, while scrum-half Toby Dabell will look to add spark and energy to the match when called upon.

Director of Rugby Steve Hill, said: “The victory over Canterbury last week was our best performance of the season and we’re really looking forward to continuing our good form against a quality Rosslyn Park side. The message this week for our players is that we have to focus on what we need to do well. Park are a very strong side, they recruited heavily in the summer and have a lot of players with Premiership and Championship experience. We know we will need to be at our best to win but I’m extremely confident in the squad selected that we can get the job done.”
