It has always been part of our long-term plan to establish a more strategic approach to alternative revenues from internal fundraising activities.
Recently, we have shown we can raise money for the club (crowdfunding campaign), for the community (school meals, tech for students), for good causes from one-off events such as the 1861 Challenge (NHS Charities Together), Movember, 2.6 Challenge (Mind Charity), as well as bigger events like The Richmond Heavies Foundation lunches. However, we believe with a more joined-up organisation looking at an annual calendar, we could be more efficient in our approach and subsequently raise more money for both the club and good causes.
To that end, we are delighted to announce that Richard Holman has volunteered to chair a Richmond Rugby Fundraising Committee. Richard has been with the club since 1984, played at all levels, captained the Heavies and is currently the Chairman of The Richmond Heavies Foundation. He is charged with creating a working team and pulling together all of the existing fundraising activities to improve revenues for all. This is additional to revenue that we receive from sponsorship and activities that currently occur at the venue.
He is currently looking for club members to help him and ideally wants someone from each sector and age group across the club. If you are in a position to help please contact Richard directly via email: holman@ftech.co.uk.
We also ask that anyone who has existing fundraising plans to contact him and let him know those dates. If you are unable to find the time to assist but have experience in fundraising, he would also like to hear from you. Similarly, if you are in a position to offer items, or experiences that we could monetise, please do get in touch with Richard.
Undoubtedly, COVID-19 will continue to have an impact on this area, and we know that many of you have been generous whenever possible. This is not a knee-jerk reaction to the pandemic, but an assimilation of ideas over the last couple of years. There will no doubt be some fun ideas amongst the activities and hopefully one of those will be as soon as we are all able to meet.
Please do offer any service or support you can to Richard. He is keen to have as much help and input as possible.
Best wishes,
Nick Preston

Club Lunch Update:
Unfortunately, we have to confirm that the planned Richmond Rugby Club Lunch due to take place in March has been cancelled. Richard will be looking into alternatives as soon as the landscape is clear. If you have transferred any money for this event, SNAP Events or Simon Pennock will be in touch shortly to explain your options.
