Sam Pim

Richmond is delighted to welcome back row, Sam Pim to the club, who has signed from Old Wesley in Dublin.

He is the son of former Leinster captain Chris Pim. He played for Leinster U20s and then moved onto Trinity College, playing for Dublin University Football Club. After graduating University, he moved out to Hong Kong, to play for Hong Kong Football Club.

“Joining Richmond felt like the perfect move, plus knowing Posty from Hong Kong, and him reaching out to convince me, made it clear Richmond was the place to be. Having moved from Dublin to London, I’m super excited to get involved in the rugby scene here and be part of the team. Can’t wait to get started and make some great memories with Richmond!”

Brandon Vince

Richmond is delighted to announce another signing in the front row, Brandon Vince, a former Brunel University prop. Before studying at Brunel, Vince was involved in the London Irish Academy from a young age, most notably starting prop in the U18s team that won the league, overcoming Northampton Saints.

“I signed for Richmond because I want to push myself to the highest level and I believe I can do so in this environment. I’m extremely excited to get stuck in with the other lads and showcase my abilities”

Sam Smith

Richmond is delighted to welcome, back three player Sam Smith. Previously, Smith studied at Leeds Beckett University, where he played in BUCS Super Rugby, before gaining Championship and Premiership Cup experience with our neighbours, London Scottish, during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.

“I’m really excited to get started with Richmond, such a historic club with a great future ahead. There are clearly a lot of talented players at Richmond, so I’m eager to start learning from them, developing my skills, and contributing as much as I can to the club”

Hamish Murray

Richmond is excited to announce the signing of Super BUCS prop Hamish Murray. Murray joins Richmond after completing his studies at Durham University, where he amassed a total of 55 Super BUCS caps. The former Durham player was a key part of their 2021/22 league-winning team.

Murray said “I chose Richmond because of the club's ambition. After speaking with Rob, it was clear that the direction the club is heading is something I wanted to be a part of. I look forward to starting in the coming weeks and meeting everyone in preseason.”

“We welcome Hamish into the fold. He is another quality player from BUCS super rugby with Durham . We are building up a good group of young talented front rowers. Hamish was keen to come to Richmond as he understands our ethos and vision and we are glad to have him”

Antony Fitch

Rob Powell has secured former Bournemouth centre Antony Fitch for the upcoming season. Fitch joined Richmond at the end of the 2023/24 season, primarily playing for the Vikings. He impressed the coaching staff so much that they offered him a contract for the approaching season.

Antony began his rugby journey at Wimborne before moving to Bournemouth Rugby. He later travelled across the border to play in the Super Series Sprint for Ayrshire Bulls for a brief stint before returning to the south coast and then he eventually joined Richmond.

“I had a few conversations with my mate Dennett on potentially coming down for a training session or two. Richmond has a big history and a big reputation around the rugby community, so when an offer to sign came up I couldn't turn it down. It's a big step and looking forward to contributing to the team where I can. I'm excited to start this new chapter and get involved with the boys at preseason”

“Anthony spent a little bit of time training with us at the end of last season. He is very skilful and immediately impressed the coaches with his ability and attitude. His versatility means he can do a job across the back line which at this level is invaluable. We are glad to have him locked in for the season as our squad continues to shape up nicely”

Will Goffey

We are delighted to announce that former Hartpury University captain and hooker, Will Goffey, has signed with Richmond Rugby. Goffey has played for the Gloucester-based team for the past five years, gaining experience in the Championship, Championship Cup, and Premiership Cup. Remarkably, Will has made 53 Super BUCS appearances in the last three years.

“After 5 years of playing at Hartpury University, I'm really excited for this next chapter in my rugby journey at Richmond, playing for such a historic team with strong club values and a drive to succeed. I can’t wait to get into preseason, meet the boys and work hard towards a great season ahead”

“Will is a great signing for the club. He comes with leadership qualities having captained his BUCS team at Hartpury and gaining valuable experience in the championship squad having played a decent amount of games with them.
You need strength in depth in the front row to have a crack in this league - Will is a talented player and a great addition to this squad”

Callum Grieve

Former Southern Knights Full-back Callum Grieve has signed with Richmond Rugby for the upcoming season. Grieve played multiple positions for the Melrose-based side, including full-back, centre, and fly-half. His versatility paid off as he was named in The Offside Line's 2024 Super Series Sprint Dream Team.

Callum began his rugby journey with the Wigan Warriors Academy. His performances in rugby league impressed the coaching team at Sale Sharks, leading to his recruitment before he moved to Newcastle University. While studying, he achieved honours playing for Scotland U19s and U20s. Grieve then pursued a Master's degree at Durham University, where he played in the Super BUCS league and emerged as the top point scorer.

"I signed for Richmond as the club is showing a lot of ambition and after talks with Rob it felt like the perfect place to play high-level rugby, I am very excited to start a new chapter at Richmond and I am looking forward to ripping in at preseason"

“We were happy to get Cal over the line. He has impressed in BUCS for Durham. He is a handy footballer, solid defender and accurate goal kicker. We look forward to supporting Cal as he sets off on his career in London and his rugby flourishing at Richmond”

Jake Byrne

Jake Byrne returns to Richmond after taking a break from rugby to focus on work at the end of the 2020/21 season, he featured in the team that played against Saracens in the COVID year.

Byrne’s journey began in the Ulster Academy, where he got his foot in for Ireland U18s, where he gained honours facing Italy, France and England, he later moved to Coventry before ending up at Richmond in 2020/21.

“Coming back to Richmond was a bit of a no brainer really, having played with a number of the lads and under Powelly, Kenchy and Rousey before I know the exciting style of rugby they want to play and it suits my game down to a tee. I am buzzing to get back to the RAG, when I was last at Richmond it was during the COVID season and I still haven’t experienced a game at the RAG with a crowd there!”

Head of Rugby, Rob Powell had this to add “It’s great to have Jake back in the fold. He made a real impact when he last played for us and we are delighted to welcome him back. He adds strength to the pack and he is a good all-round rugby player”

Theo Bevacqua

Bevacqua earned nine caps for the Wales U20s team, showcasing his talent early in his career. He made his debut for the Cardiff Blues against Munster at Thomond Park. Later, he took on a leadership role by captaining Cardiff University in the Super BUCS league.

"I chose Richmond due to the ethos and energy surrounding the club. I’m looking forward to the challenge and getting started in the coming weeks" Theo's response to why he opted for Richmond Rugby.

Head of Rugby Rob Powell added, "The front row is an area we needed to strengthen. Theo will add a lot of quality in this position, given his experience captaining his BUCS team and playing for the Blues and Wales. I think this signing affirms our desire to bring the best players from the student game to London. It’s great that Theo chose Richmond to develop his playing and professional career"

Alex Schwarz

Schwarz represented Wales U18s, achieving caps against France, Scotland and Japan. Now aged 31 the former Pirate, has tallied up 106 appearances for the Penzance side over his six year term.

Now London bound, Alex had this to share “I am delighted to sign for Richmond - a club steeped in history, and one I’ve always admired from afar. It is a real privilege for me to be part of such a brilliant team as I move away from full-time sport, and I can’t wait to get started.”

"Alex is a great signing for the club. We want to bring in quality players to increase the standards and provide competition around our existing squad. He brings huge experience having been a key player for Cornish Pirates in a full-time environment. Importantly for Richmond, he understands our ethos and is the right type of person to add value around the club" said Powell.
