Richmond return to the Richmond Athletic Ground this Saturday for another high-stakes National 1 head-to-head against Rotherham Titans, kicking off at 3 PM. Tickets are still available – secure yours HERE!
Sitting unbeaten at the top of the table, Richmond’s exceptional start to the season has been built on a combination of attacking precision and defensive resilience. Key to that success has been the form of George Nugent and Sam Pim. Both Nugent and Pim have had a brilliant season so far, having proven to be powerful forces in the forward pack in the last couple of games. They’ll be looking to add to add to their teams winning successes this weekend.
The Titans come into this match 3rd in the league and in fine form, riding a 5-game winning streak. With only two losses this season, Rotherham are a side full of confidence and will bring physicality and intent as they look to hand Richmond their first defeat.
At home, Richmond remains a defensive powerhouse, having conceded just 66 points in 5 games, we continue to have best home defensive record in the league. With a proven ability to shut down opponents, the team will aim to nullify Rotherham’s aerial threat while keeping the scoreboard ticking in our favour.
Rotherham’s Richard Hayes is the top points scorer in the National 1 league with 150 points to his name this season, he’ll be looking to pack on the points this weekend. Callum Grieve is Richmond’s top points scorer and places second in the league with 117 points scored. Both centres will be sharpening their kicking skills ahead of Saturday, it’s making out to be a very close-scoring game.
There have been a few changes to the Richmond squad this week. Rhett Butler joins the team on the bench, Will Goffey is back at starting hooker, Callum Grieve plays at 12 while Alex O’Meara comes in at 15 and Frank McMillan returns to the starting XV.
With both sides in top form, this promises to be a hard-fought, nail-biting contest. For those unable to make the game, coverage will be provided on X (formerly known as Twitter) RichmondFC1861, Instagram and Facebook.
