Richmond’s 1st XV returns to the Richmond Athletic Ground this Saturday for another crucial National 1 clash, this time against Dings Crusaders. With just one point separating us from league leaders Rams, every match from here on out carries massive weight in the title race. After 17 rounds, we've forged one of the league’s toughest defensive records, and this weekend, we aim to impose our physicality while taking key lessons from our last meeting with Dings—a thrilling 31-31 draw earlier in the season.
On Saturday afternoon, it’s all about delivering a statement performance in front of our home crowd, setting the record straight from that draw, and keeping the pressure on at the top. The boys will be fired up and ready to go, and we know you’ll be right behind them every step of the way.
Players to Watch
Richmond: Tololima Savaiinaea
If last weekend’s debut was anything to go by, Savaiinaea is going to be a force in the Richmond midfield. A relentless presence on both sides of the ball, he led the squad in dominant tackles and was second in carries against Darlington Mowden Park, making an instant impact. His physicality in defence, combined with his ability to break the line, will be key in setting the platform for our attack. Keep an eye on his link-up play with fly-half Dennett and outside centre Grieve—if that combination clicks, it could unlock some serious opportunities out wide.
Dings Crusaders: George Boulton
The visitors’ danger man. As their top points scorer this season, Boulton is a proven attacking threat who can turn half-chances into points. Richmond’s defensive line will need to be razor-sharp to keep him contained.
At full-time, we’ll be screening England vs. France in the Six Nations in the Murray Judd bar—so stick around and round off another huge day of rugby here at the RAG!
Kick-off is at 3 pm, for those unable to attend, follow live updates on X (formerly known as Twitter) RichmondFC1861, Instagram and Facebook.
