Richmond travel north this weekend for the final away game of the season, taking on third-placed Rotherham Titans at Clifton Lane. While the league title is already secured, the grind doesn’t stop for this Richmond side as they look to finish the season strong and mark the occasion with another performance to be proud of.
The last meeting between the two teams was a thriller at the Richmond Athletic Ground in December, with Richmond edging a pulsating contest 31-29 thanks to a game-winning try by Obonna in the final minute. The Titans, currently third in the table, will be keen to respond after a narrow defeat to Blackheath last weekend. With home advantage and a point to prove, they’ll be dangerous opposition.
Richmond, meanwhile, are riding high after our Friday night victory over Rams, a result that sealed the National One title with two games to spare. Rob Powell’s men will still be laser-focused on backing up their achievement with another strong away showing.
This weekend also marks a huge milestone for prop Jimmy Litchfield, who will make his 100th appearance for the club. To celebrate the occasion, Litchfield will captain the side, a fitting honour for a player who has given so much in Richmond colours.
Rotherham will be eager to test the champions, and with proven threats across the park- including the league’s top points scorer Richard Hayes - they’ll look to replicate the pressure they applied in the reverse fixture. Richmond’s defensive steel and set-piece discipline will once again be crucial.
Kick-off is at 2pm. Follow all the action live on our social media channels: X (formerly Twitter) @RichmondFC1861, Instagram, and Facebook.
